Treants: The living Trees
Wanderers of the forests, voice to the ageless ones. Gathers of stories that span across the endless reaches of time. Silently they glide through forests, glades and jungles – great teachers to the forest beings, the young ones.
I remember once being summoned to a meeting in a forest. The meeting hall was on a massive round wooden platform with all the elementals gathering around it. In the middle, was the elven king of that specific city and a Treant. Old and wise, Black Bark his name. Ageless beyond time, there He stood, surrounded by elves, fairies, gnomes, dragons and more. He was the great leader of that forest, of many forests all around. He held great respect for all creatures knew His name.
Treants work incredibly closely to all other elementals. They can be seen as the great grandfathers of the Elemental Kingdom. Their wisdom is paramount, even more so to the elves. Where the elves gather wisdom, the Treants have experienced it firsthand. The elves are intellectual where Treants are more practical.
They have immense compassion for all beings, willing to fight for any cause they see fit. Do not perceive them as slow or simple-minded as they are anything but. Their thinking is slow, weighing all options before making a decision (they have been around for thousands of years after all, there is a lot of information to sift through!)
To have a Treant on your side however, is like having the entire forest supporting you. All elementals heed the call of Treants, they will follow any instruction as so ordered by one of these great beings for they are the wisest and know all.
They are rooted in Gaia – living, moving, talking beings of Her energy and majesty. They speak Her truth, as they are living within it. But their land is slowly being destroyed, with each tree felled they weep in silence.
Treants are teachers, teaching saplings:
the language of trees,
how to speak,
how to see,
how to feel the life that moves through them.
But alas, this is an undertaking far greater than the capabilities of Treants currently. The new trees have no voice – they have no call. They are trapped inside of themselves not knowing they are connected and united to all. That is why now, when we walk into any manmade forest we never have the same experience as when we walk into an old ancient temperate rainforest. It is not the same, the trees have not been taught how to speak, they have voice – they cannot sing to us. They are alone, trapped within themselves.
When next you walk in a forest, become still and feel the trees – hear their presence and experience them. They want to be heard, they want to be known. They have great stories to tell us, for they have observed for eons and know much.
And Treants, they are always there – roaming, observing, teaching and healing.
How to connect to Treants:
The best way would be through trees already there.
Go to the nearest tree, give it a huge hug and then sit underneath it.
Touch it at the base of its trunk and say “Thank you”, it doesn’t matter what you thank them for, just so long you can acknowledge them for their beauty and the gift they give to us each day.
And then say to the tree:
“I can hear your song, and I want you to sing. I want you to sing each day to me, to everyone that walks past you. Sing so loud it deafens the wind”
If you can build a relationship with a tree near you, and help it, teach it and acknowledge it – a Treant will eventually appear. To thank you, to gift you – for you have helped give one of their siblings a voice again!
You can hear them speak when the wind comes to say hello, you can high five them when they let their children slowly return back down to the earth.
